Accessibility

Built to be used by everyone.

We design and test VINMaven's website to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. Here is what that means in practice, and how to tell us when we fall short.

What we do

  • Text and controls meet a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1, and large headings at least 3 to 1.
  • Pages work at 200% text size with nothing cut off and no sideways scrolling.
  • Everything works from a keyboard, with a visible focus, and dialogs keep focus inside until you close them.
  • Buttons, fields and pictures carry labels for screen readers; decorative pictures are hidden from them.
  • With Reduce Motion on, videos stay still and nothing slides or turns on its own.
  • Tap targets are at least 44 pixels. The films have captions and a transcript.
  • The site is in six languages, the app's: English, Español, Português, Kreyòl ayisyen, Tiếng Việt and 中文.

Where we may fall short

We test as we build, with automated checks and by hand, but problems can still slip through, especially on new pages. The phone screens drawn on this site are pictures of the app; their words are always said in the text beside them.
