Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and VINMaven for using the VINMaven app and website (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them and to our Privacy policy.
1. Who can use VINMaven
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. One account per person and one account per phone. Keep your password private; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@vinmaven.com if you think someone else is using it.
2. What VINMaven is, and isn't
- VINMaven gives you information to help you buy a car: asking and fair prices, how long a car has been listed, price history, similar cars nearby, recalls, a suggested offer and similar tools.
- We are not a dealer, lender, insurer or broker, and we are not a party to any deal between you and a dealer, private seller, lender or insurer. Any purchase, loan or policy is between you and them.
- It isn't advice. Nothing in VINMaven is financial, legal, tax or mechanical advice. Suggested offers, scores and AI-written summaries are estimates. Always inspect the car (ideally with an independent mechanic), get the out-the-door price in writing, and read every document before you sign.
3. Where the data comes from
Vehicle, listing and market data come from public records (such as NHTSA and the EPA) and third-party market data providers. It can be incomplete, delayed or wrong: a listing may have sold, a price may have changed, a history may be missing events that were never reported. Out-the-door, tax and fee figures are estimates. Loan rates shown are published starting rates; the rate you get depends on the lender and your credit. We don't guarantee any price, rate, quote or outcome.
4. Lenders, insurers and other partners
- When you ask for a loan pre-qualification or insurance quotes, we send your request only to the partners you pick, only after you agree, together with the consent text you saw. Their decisions, offers and terms are theirs, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.
- How VINMaven makes money. Dealers, lenders and insurers pay us a flat monthly subscription for tools to answer you. They can't pay to change prices, scores, reviews or the order you see. We don't earn anything when you buy a car, take a loan or buy a policy.
- How we sort. By how well a car fits your search, its price against similar cars, how far away it is, and how recently it was seen on the lot. Lenders are listed by their published rate. Payment is never a factor anywhere, and nothing is labeled or placed as sponsored.
5. Free for car buyers
- VINMaven is free for car buyers. Full reports, offers, visits, saved cars and alerts cost nothing, and nothing is sold in the app. A free account is needed for full reports and anything you save; decoding a VIN, specs, recalls and safety work without one.
- Fair use. To keep reports free and fast for everyone, an account can open a limited number of new reports in a day and in a month, far more than anyone shopping for a car needs. Reports you've already opened always work. If you reach a limit, new reports start again later; we'll tell you when.
- If you bought the Car Hunt Pass before October 11, 2026, it won't renew and you won't be charged again: you keep it until the end of the period you paid for, and everything for car buyers is free after that. Scan packs you bought stay on your account; reports are free now, so they're never used up. We don't refund past purchases; if something went wrong with one, write to support@vinmaven.com within 30 days and we'll make it right. Your receipts stay in your email.
- Dealerships, lenders and insurers subscribe on our website under their own business agreement, never in the app.
6. Reviews and what you post
- You own your reviews. You let us show, share and promote them in VINMaven, on our website and on social media, with your first name and last initial. You can delete a review at any time.
- Reviews must be about your own real experience. No fake, paid or incentivized reviews, no reviews of your own business or a competitor's, nothing abusive, discriminatory or private about other people. We may remove reviews or content that break these rules. Dealers may reply to reviews of their own dealership.
7. Things you agree not to do
VINMaven is for your own car shopping. Don't scrape, copy or resell our data or reports, or reach them with scripts, bots or other automated tools; don't reverse-engineer or overload the service; don't create accounts or use other people's to get around fair-use limits; don't use VINMaven to harass anyone or to break the law, including laws on lending, insurance and consumer protection.
8. Our service and brand
The app, website, reports, scores and brand belong to VINMaven and our licensors. You can use reports for your own car shopping and share them with people helping you buy. We may change, add or remove features, and we may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
9. Disclaimers and limits
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the condition, price or history of any vehicle, or anything a dealer, seller, lender or insurer does. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before it, or $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Disputes
Talk to us first: most problems are solved by an email to support@vinmaven.com. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and applicable U.S. federal law. You can always bring a claim in small claims court where you live.
11. Changes and ending
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect, and ask you to agree again where required. You can stop using VINMaven and delete your account from Account at any time.
